table tennis

Yesterday I finally played with a lecturer with a very unique style of playing. His bat's rubber is almost dead, producing minimal spin but also not affected by spin a lot. And surprisingly, his technique compliments his style very well. He plays like a short pimples player! Frustratingly, no matter how heavy the spin I put on the ball, he can just hit through it! I won the first two matches as he couldn't read my services but lost the next two as he adjusted. Also, he blocks all my forehand loops with no-spin or minimal spin with incredible placement too, making it very hard to continuously attack.

After the match with him, I realised some of my weaknesses.
I need to: sharpen my angles and ball placement. All services/loops have to be able to place the ball either very short/very long or centre/edges. My backhand still doesn't have that sting on it, need to increase power. Must always have proper footwork( my left foot needs to go to the side for taking extreme backhand services and must remember to go back to ready position after serve and receiving short serves) Also I have to keep track of what services the opponent doesn't know how to take, and keep on changing services so that he doesn't get used to it. And I need to keep track of what services I know already!

This is for my own reference only, ignore as you probably won't understand it.

Forehand services(pendulum varieties):
Standard pendulum(smooth motion, Schlager style, 4-finger grip), Ma Lin's old jagged motion pendulum(4-finger grip),

(with Timo Boll's grip) Ma Lin's new high throw pendulum going to the right, high throw pendulum with a jerk upwards at the end. Ma Long's whole body pendulum combined with reverse pendulum. spin/no-spin service with fake motion going downwards and with fake motion going sideways.

Forehand services(reverse pendulum varieties)
My own developed style(resembling Zhang Jike's one), Kreanga's style with the bat pointing towards the front, Wang Hao's style with Boll's grip(mainly spin/no-spin for the moment), and Xu Ke's one( the one I mentioned previously, muahaha)

Tomahawk servicess
Forehand wiper service(need to be able to serve short) , a full-swing one with less serve variety but more spin, short swing combined with pendulum service from forehand side.

Backhand services
Backhand pendulum service(standard one), backhand tomahawk(mainly side-spin/down-side and no-spin varieties), Ovtcharov's backhand serve(still trying to increase the amount of spin for this)

Fast services
Crosscourt sidespin serve and down the line sidespin all starting with reverse pendulum serve motion. And the killer...muahahahaha. Fast top-spin serve and fast downspin serve starting with normal pendulum serve motion. I learnt it from slow motioning He Zhi Wen's games against Schlager! Thanks to Tay for introducing me to He Zhi Wen.

I need to increase consistency
